Graduation and celebrations!

What’s a cultural tradition from your country that you love?

I write a lot about Indian traditions and culture I follow here in the US! I follow them because I love them!

So, going to write about a tradition that is being followed in the US! The first day of school celebrations 😀! Celebrating High School graduation! I didn’t grow up with both! I was surprised by it when I moved here. Kids getting their pictures taken and parents making a big deal about the first day! This year, my husband said he saw balloons 🎈 at our school bus stop! I feel it is cute!

Graduation celebrations never happened for me! I don’t think there is any graduation party for high schoolers in India. But here parents celebrate it with pomp!

I am now curious if other countries celebrate High School graduation! Something I would love to know and please comment on the same!

We never did graduation parties but one year we did throw water balloons at my second kid as he walked back home after his last day of school! 🤷‍♀️

  1. I love that high school is celebration with a graduation and a prom – a wonderful rite of passage from adolescence into young adulthood!

    1. Do you do in Canada?

      1. Yup!

  2. Even I did not have any graduation party. Children used to be so busy planning their next course of study. But now everything is global. I don’t know whether such days are celebrated among GenZs.

    1. I think, India still does not do High school graduation! The kids are preparing for their IIT and NEET exams 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️!

      1. Yes, absolutely
