Lunch Time for FSS

It’s time for my weekly Story Starter prompt. Here’s how it works. Every Tuesday morning (my time), I’m going to give you a “teaser” sentence or sentence fragment and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to build a story (prose or poetry) around that sentence/fragment. It doesn’t have to be the first sentence in your story, and you don’t even have to use it in your post at all if you don’t want to. The purpose of the teaser is simply to spark your imagination and to get your storytelling juices flowing.

This week’s Story Starter teaser is:

I crouched behind the car, trying not to make a sound…

If you care to write and post a story built from this teaser, be sure to link back to this post and to tag your post with #FSS. I would also encourage you to read and enjoy what your fellow bloggers do with their stories.

And most of all, have fun.

The crow came everyday for the bowl of rice my Mom keeps outside. He doesn’t invite his friends and rarely caws. I felt he was being selfish but I think that is survival of fittest. I don’t blame him. We humans do it, why not a crow. He had found the place my Mom leaves a bowl of rice and it is his meal. Me and my Mom both enjoy watching him have his lunch from our dining room window but as soon as I try to open the door he flies away. Today I decided I should get a good picture of him without disturbing his lunch. So even before my Mom put the food I crouched behind the car parked out and tried not to make a sound. He didn’t disappoint me. He landed perfectly on time and I got my picture. I had to stay in that position until he finished his lunch. It was a bit of an inconvenience but somehow I got what I needed. He has become a member of our family.

For Fandango’s Story Starter!.

Picture courtesy my brother of course from Chennai, India. 4th blog I have used his pictures as a prompt. Having some fun along with him as he vacations and spends time in India.

  1. Cool picture! I like crows. I’ve read they can recognize people and I’d like to have one of the neighborhood crows recognize me but they always fly away.
