30 days has September, April, June and November, all the rest have thirty-one, except February, which has twenty-eight days, when leap year comes once in four years, February has one day more.
This rhyme was taught to me by my grandfather when I was little to remember the number of days in the month. I kept singing it all this month and I had to quote it in my blog.
September was a busy month for my son. Thanking my super dad husband who helped me achieve the same.
The first weekend was Labor Day and our family took a trip to Assateague Island National Seashore, just one of the 10 National Seashores of the National Park System.

The rest of the weekends were spent at a race. Yes, it was us waking up early in the morning, rush through a breakfast and be at a walk.
The Second Saturday of the month was spent at regional long distance walk competition. My son, with his dad as his aide did both the 3km walk and the 1.5 km walk. This was an easy paved course inside a park. Though the return traffic was a headache, it really boosted our family’s confidence.

The third Saturday of the month, my son and his dad participated in a 2-mile family fun walk at the Pittsburgh airport. It was an event that raised money and I was there for them at the finish line. Ha, I also rooted for all the 5k runners and other walkers too.

The last Sunday of the month was at the Western Pennsylvania Sectionals. We were so close to scratching my son of the event because of the delay with so many issues and huge number of participants. But I prayed, acted as a cheerleader and at 2 pm my son with his dad finished their 3 km walk. We did scratch him of the 1.5 km, but we did not regret a bit. We are proud of our son, since this is a time qualifying event and he did qualify for the same.

So, in between these tournaments and events, we were walking, going to gym and even doing some water walk. We had to be fit, and I was behind the scenes getting him ready.
This really ends our early morning alarms for a race. Maybe we would do the Thanksgiving turkey trot, but it gave us an understanding what needs to be done with our special man.
Should I fill up more for September and show how busy our weekends were? Ha, we also visited the largest teapot in West Virginia and checked it off our bucket list! Yup, a busy September.
