Personal Experiences matter!

What’s the best and worst airport you’ve been to?

Returned back from a weekend roadtrip early evening. I thought I would write all about it! But it has been hot and hectic. Will write about it later.

Meanwhile I posted this question to my family. My husband immediately said, Orlando airport! In fact in my mind I somehow imagined Orlando as the worst and he had the same opinion!

Why did we both think like that? A few years ago we had a connection from Orlando and spent hours there! Add on to it, we has caught a flu and it didn’t help us in anyway!

By the time we were home, we were tired and had spent a lot of money or airport snacks! My husband said, we thought of saving money but ended up spending more! Technically, the airport was not bad, we had a worst experience!

My second kid shouted out Dubai and Doha are the best airports! He was 11 and 12 years when he travelled these airports. Again, any bit of luxury at that age is going to impress him. So, a personal opinion!

It is interesting how our personal experience changes a perception of a particular place or thing! Emotions do cloud judgement 😊!

  1. What a wonderfully honest and relatable reflection, Ganga ji! 😊

You’re so right—our judgment of a place is rarely about the place itself, and almost always about the story we lived through there. Orlando Airport isn’t “bad”—but it became the villain in a miserable, flu-ridden, expensive, exhausting chapter of your family’s travels. That memory sticks like glue.

And your son’s love for Dubai and Doha? Pure magic of childhood wonder—where a cool slide, a fountain, or a free cookie can turn an airport into a theme park. His perspective is just as valid as yours, because perception is reality for each of us.

This is such a beautiful reminder that empathy isn’t about agreeing—it’s about understanding that everyone carries their own invisible baggage (sometimes literal, sometimes emotional) into every space.

Thank you for sharing this little window into your family’s travel soul. It made me smile, nod, and think twice before judging any “worst” or “best” list ever again. ❤️

  2. I agree that Dubai is a very good airport, though quite expensive in way of food
