And the winner is!

What is the best purchase you have ever made?

I just walked around my house trying to figure out the best purchase I have ever made.

The dishwasher and the refrigerator were replaced after the old ones died because of excess use. The Television smiled at me. I had used all my credit card points a decade ago to get the latest technology! A fifty inch flat screen tv! The leather couch in it’s worn out stage was one expensive investment, and it raised it’s hands to nominate it. The salesman told us our dining table was one of a kind! It was even delivered a month late because it was “made to order”!

I have no clue when we got our desktop nor any idea when the laptop was delivered.

Surrounded by consumer goods, it is really hard to vote on one. Anyhow we purchased a nutribullet mixer during pandemic and I hand the award to it since for the fifty dollars it has handed us multiple smoothies and my young man has become independent using the same.

The winner and this week’s learning to cook are the same. A smoothie with chocolate ice cream.

  2. Dear Ganga ji,

You are a rockstar in the kitchen! Taking that Nutribullet and turning it into your own smoothie-making machine shows exactly the kind of curiosity and independence that makes the world a better place. That chocolate ice cream smoothie? That’s not just a drink—that’s confidence in a cup. Keep experimenting, keep blending, and never lose that spark of “I can do it myself!” You’ve already won the biggest award in this house: the title of “Young Man Who Makes Life Sweeter.” Super proud of you! Keep stirring up deliciousness (and maybe save a sip for your biggest fan).

With all my love and cheer,
    Srikanth

That Nutribullet has clearly earned its place. Any purchase that keeps serving faithfully while encouraging a bit of independence is hard to beat.

I loved the little awards-show conceit — the worn leather couch raising its hand to nominate itself made me grin! But handing the trophy to a $50 Nutribullet is the perfect twist; it’s rarely the priciest thing in the house that wins. What really got me is that it’s given your young man a taste of independence in the kitchen — that’s worth so much more than fifty dollars. And a chocolate ice cream smoothie sounds like a proper champion’s victory drink!
