Chaos?

Daily writing prompt
Is a little chaos actually good for us?

My mom used to quote her dad. Kalangi theliyanam. Kalangi theliyanam” (കളഞ്ഞി തെളിയണം) is a Malayalam phrase roughly translating to “the muddiness must settle to reveal clarity.”

It is a chaotic Monday morning for me. It has been almost a week since we came back but things are still backlogged.

Laundry still not put away.

Got groceries and they are still boxes.

My cooking routine is still in a confused state.

My son has not resumed his weekly activities.

I am still taking cat naps whenever I see the chance.

Anyhow we went to the temple yesterday. It gave a routine in some way. Our scriptures say God is everywhere. But I found the goodness of visiting the temple. A chance to dress a little bit up. The smell and sound in there, smiling at the priests and having a vibe that cannot be duplicated at home.

Our evening walks have resumed a bit but with heat and thunderstorms, they are still lagging for my young man.

Yes, a chaotic Monday morning but hoping things settle down and clarity settles in for this week.

Have a great week all!

  1. Your grandfather’s wisdom is the perfect anchor for a week like this Ganga. Kalangi theliyanam—it’s a beautiful reminder that clarity isn’t about forcing the chaos out, but trusting that stillness and time will do their work. You’re not behind; you’re right in the middle of the settling, and that’s exactly where you need to be.

I absolutely love what you said about the temple. It’s so true—God may be everywhere, but there’s something irreplaceable about the ritual of showing up: the dressing up, the familiar sounds, the shared smiles. That small act of routine isn’t just spiritual; it’s a gentle reset for the soul. Give yourself credit for carving out that moment.

The cat naps? That’s not weakness—that’s wisdom. The laundry and boxes will still be there tomorrow, but your energy matters more. And evening walks will find their rhythm again once the weather cooperates.

You’re holding space for your family, honoring your grandfather’s words, and moving forward one small step at a time. That’s more than enough. Here’s to the mud settling gently, and to clarity finding you in the quiet moments this week. You’ve got this. Have a wonderfully grounded week ahead! 🌿
