Life choices

What are your favorite brands and why?

Last weekend I picked up half dozen Nike brand socks for my son! The sticker price for branded goods is more than the ones we pick up at Walmart. But my son’s sensory needs are huge and we have been buying the same for so many years. As a little kid who wouldn’t wear shoes can now wear one because he could tolerate this brand of socks! My husband who pinches pennies for everything has never opposed me buying these expensive ones because of the same reason.

We have our liquid dish soap from a brand called seventh generation! It is a “go green” variety and I have been getting the same for a long time. We spend the extra dollar or two for the safety of our health.

Yes, there are things brands do not matter! But for our comfort and safety we go with one particular brand. My husband is very picky where he picks the milk as he says a particular store brand makes him feel comfortable.

Life has so many choices and the prompt made me think! Wow, on a day to day basis we pick and choose so many 😃!

Have a good day all!

  1. I really appreciated reading this—it’s such a thoughtful and honest reflection on everyday choices. The way you connected something as simple as socks to your son’s comfort and progress was especially moving. It’s a powerful reminder that sometimes what looks like a “small” or “expensive” choice from the outside can actually make a huge difference in someone’s quality of life.

  2. Hi Ganga,
The price for socks is very good if you can pick them up here. I buy my socks in Turkey, every time we fly by Istanbul I make a point of getting 15-20 pairs of socks there. I love the quality and appreciate them carrying what I love. In general Istanbul can offer lots of things to keep you busy like going to hamam and eating out. I personally enjoy the mosques and crazy cultural extravaganza.
Here in the states we have an employee store for Nike and Adidas which means 50% off for teachers. I enjoy that offer quite a bit. Some people travel to Portland just to enjoy this unique opportunity.
