Navaratri 2025

Excited to share pictures of my Navaratri 2025.

A longshot view of my living room with my dolls

The five step golu display. This has my first dolls which are not big but huge for my sentiments. Assorted dolls of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi along with Maha Vishnu’s Dasavathara and Ashtalakshmi. The steps ends with Sangeeta Trimoorthi with every Golu’s marapaachi bommai.

My collection of Devi dolls. Tapas Kamakshi, Rajarajeshwari, Renukambal. Kamakshi, Meenakshi, Visalakshi along with Abhirami are displayed here.

Typed note about the importance of Navaratri by my young man.

The entire Ramayana is not here but a couple of scenes from the epic are on display like Guhan taking Rama on his boat, Rama giving Ahalya moksham and Hanuman giving Seetha the ring.

The story of Lord Krishna is part of Srimad Bhagavatam. Very fortunate I have been able to add almost all of the events beginning with the birth of Lord Krishna to his fun time in Gokulam to him killing Kamsa.

Different stories from Hinduism depicted like Gajendra moksham, Story of Markandeya, birth of Muruga and Adi Shankara’s Kanakadhara.

Tirupati Perumal’s Pushpangi seva is our center piece. Thanks to a great program me and my son learnt to make this Lotus on which Perumal and Thaayar take their seat.

My oldest biggest doll given by my Mom. A beautiful Ganapathy takes his seat.

Every golu has a social setting and a Temple Kumbhabhishekam is our setting. Along with Kavadi for Murugan. Chettiyar and his wife have set the shop.

A view of our second room

Scenes from Hindu marriage, baby shower, kids ear piercing ceremony, bramhopadesham, housewarming ceremony along with the meal all are part of this display.

How can an Indian golu not be without a cricket match?

The park scene and games are a fitting end to a Golu.

Arts of my son is kept all over the Golu display but this shelf is completely dedicated to his work. Nothing huge. Getting dolls and painting them 😊.

Here is my video link of my Golu 2025.

Thanks for visiting my Golu virtually today.

Here is the thambulam.

A decorative sand bottle made by my son’s friends at his program and a fidgety acupressure ring for all.

Let us add some Verkadalai or peanuts sundal along with Lemon rice from Ani’s kitchen.

Bowing to Mother Goddess for giving me the strength to do this in such a large scale inspite of so many hurdles.

Please feel free to comment like and share my video and blog for all to enjoy and get inspired.

  1. Absolutely breathtaking Ganga! The Navaratri Golu is a stunning display of devotion and artistry, with each doll and scene radiating divine charm.
Special applause to the young man—his note and contributions add such thoughtfulness and heart to the entire arrangement.
    A truly inspiring and soul-lifting celebration! 🙏🙏🙏
Happy Navaratri. Today , in our place people have celebrated Saraswathi pooja. TOMORROW, 1st October, Ayudha pooja, is celebrated.

  2. What a truly magnificent Navaratri , filled with devotion, artistry, and deep cultural meaning! 🌸🙏 The way you’ve woven together divine stories, family heirlooms, your son’s creativity, and social themes makes this display not just a visual delight but also a heartfelt narrative of tradition and faith. Each detail — from the Dasavathara to the Kanakadhara scene, from the Pushpangi Seva centerpiece to the joyous touch of a cricket match — reflects both reverence and joy.

  4. That’s an amazing and impressive collection. I love the Ganapathy doll at the end. Is that also Ganapathy (but smaller) in the 4th and 5th pictures?

    1. There are so many Ganapathys in the display. One year I had them all in one step. Thanks so much.

  5. I was just reading about Ganesh on Wikipedia and they linked to his 108 different names. Would a child learn all of those 108 names, along with all the deities in school? Each name also had an accompanying mantra so I’m guessing he’s the object of meditation for many. I like the symbolism and the little mouse that accompanies him. Have you ever heard of the author Roopa Pai?

    1. I just checked on her. I don’t know about her. Anyhow my knowledge about Ganesha is definitely limited. No we didn’t learn religion at school. It was hearing stories at home from grandparents and now I attend a lot of classes. Every diety has a mantra and that is the beauty of Hinduism.
