Tommy always wanted a pet. The rising fourth grader at Lincoln Elementary School, had always begged his parents for one. They have been giving one excuse after another. So when he saw a stray cat walking down his street he decided to make that his own. So he slowly decided to grab Mr. Pussy which he had named in his mind and started following it. The cat unaware of the situation jumped over a fence on to a another house and to the neighboring street. Tommy in an instinct tried to imitate his Mr. Puss but fell down in the act scrapping his knee. He then remembered Puss in Boots movie and thought to himself. “The biggest difference between a man and a cat is that a cat has nine lives”, Dad had talked all about it on the way back from the movies. At that point he decided he wanted to live that one life and dropped the idea of owning a pet. It seemed too dangerous. He now had to explain to his parents as how he got himself hurt.
As he walked home he was surprised to hear a whining sound coming from inside his home. He opened the door and his parents and siblings shouted “Happy Birthday” and handed him a cute little puppy.
Tommy’s sadness and pain all flew away as he started playing with the new member of the family.
