Bloganuary Day 28, A cake

Describe your perfect birthday cake.

My tradition does not have cutting a cake for birthdays. Even after I got married and I came to this country, that was not a thing we did. But as my special one started understanding things he understood birthday means pizza and cake. We did not invite anyone but everyone’s birthday we bought cake and pizza and he would always sing and be part of cutting a cake. It became our family tradition.

But my birthday usually falls during a fasting period Navaratri, so we usually skip mine and I have never bothered much about it. But this year, the festivities were over (Indian festivals follow lunar calendar) and we had a cake. I had to search my phone to see what kind of cake it was since I had completely forgotten what kind of cake it was.

But I did try to create perfect cakes for my kids while they were growing up. It was not the taste but the different themes and decorations that I used to order for their birthdays. My special one’s 21st birthday cake was a special egg free and we celebrated along with his graduation at my Guru’s Ashram and everyone said it tasted good . So for a person who does not know much about cakes I do not have any expectations for my birthday cake. It is just a time to have fun with the family and forget the fact we are getting a year older. 😊

  3. The time with family is what is important, not the type of cake. I do not have a cake for my birthday, although I do have a dinner at a restaurant with my husband to celebrate. I fix cakes for holidays or for fun.
