Bloganuary Day 20, My home

Prompt for today: What irritates you about the home you live in?

We have been living in our current home for the past eleven years. It is more than fifty years old and doesn’t have the open floor plan. We were living in a town home before that which was modern and new. But I fell in love with this house when we moved from Boston to Pittsburgh. I have made the house a home and two of my rooms are dedicated for prayers. I got an extra space when I moved to this house and I felt that is how I will be using it. It has served the purpose so how can I complain about it. I love my home every bit. So what irritates me? I would say unlike newer homes my laundry is in the basement. That seems to be a big disadvantage as we grow older. But my special boy helps with the laundry and so we have converted that from an irritating thing to a positive thing. Oh boy, he can carry two tubs of laundry two floors down and gives me a big break.

I have a roof over my head that keeps me warm and comfortable and makes me happy. I have nothing more to complain.

  1. Hi Uma, I love my home too. I have lived here for 27 years and I have many happy memories of my children and Mom here for Holidays and when my kids were in school. I too wish I had a laundry on the first floor but it’s ok. I love looking outside and seeing birds and squirrels and trees. And all my neighbors I love (especially you❤️). I am going to start feeding my outside birds again.

    1. Of course the yard with all the critters 😊. My parents have enjoyed your birds more than me !

  2. I too suffer from laundry in the basement syndrome 😉 I tell myself, at least my legs are strong.

  3. I like that you have a room or two for prayers. As I have gotten older, I do not like stairs very much either.

  5. I’ve lived in older homes with distinct rooms as opposed to the open floor plan we now have. Both are nice, in certain ways, but the laundry in the basement is a bummer, in my experience.
