Sweet Memories

The week ending has been one of the best in my life. My younger one’s High School Graduation was on Thursday. A lifelong moment to cherish. Except for that day I wrote blog everyday this week . Thank you so much WordPress and my fellow bloggers for providing with the prompts and challenges.

Even though my brother was busy with his work, he and his family made a flying visit to be there for my kid’s Graduation. Last time when my brother came, I suggested him an Indian Restaurant which he hated. I did not know he regularly rates restaurants on google and he gave a bad review for that one online. So for Graduation lunch I decided we should try something different and he asked if there was any brick oven pizza places. So that is were we went for our treat.

We are vegetarians. My husband is too picky about his food, even Indian food. Seven people at the table, with different taste buds we did order a variety and here are the pictures and the descriptions.

My younger one, being a crazy health conscious kid ordered the salad. I think, that was one of the best salad we had ever tasted. Eggplant Marino and Garlic knots were the other two starters. I did not take a proper picture since people were busy eating before I could take my camera out (or phone)!

We stumbled onto Caprese pizza a long time back since it was vegetarian. It took us a while to realize why we loved it. The pizza with no sauce has basil on top and we Indians love the smell of basil. Indian basil is looks completely different but the smell is so similar. We do not use it in our cooking but we grow in our gardens. Full of cheese, my niece said, she would like something with sauce in it.

The next pizza was a build your own pizza (of course with the sauce). The toppings being hot pepper, tomatoes and onion. On a scale from one to ten, I would give the spice level of the hot pepper to be just a three. I think it was burnt a bit and lost it’s spice but the flavor and taste remained. We did add crushed red pepper to this pizza. I would say, we are so used to spicy food and an Indian taste, we try to customize the food to our taste buds even without us realizing that.

My husband hates spicy food, (he has a sweet tooth) so the other one was with tomatoes, sweet peppers and olives. The olives were a bit burnt but other than that the pizza was delicious.

We did finish off the lunch with Tiramisu and cheesecake. Even my special one was so full for a desert but we all did have a piece since it was a joyous occasion.

Okay, so what did my brother say about the food. He and his family loved the lunch. I am finally happy that I took his family out to a place that satisfied all our taste buds and got my brother’s thumbs up. I am now eagerly waiting for the review he is going to give on google for Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza.

This is for Natalie’s Weekend Coffee Share. Thank you all for stopping by.

It’s always great when you find somewhere that has a food choice for everyone – not always easy, but so worth it when you do.

  7. Wow. As a Malaysian, I’m very familiar with vegetarianism and Indian food, but it was so interesting to see more Western foods in this post. Also interesting to note that your entire family is vegetarian—a fact I just learned today, so thanks for sharing. And congrats to your son’s graduation!

  8. Wow – Ganga, you must have your hands full trying to feed even the tastes of those always around you. We love Indian food and had to go without for several years because there were none around us and work and kids kept us too busy to take on learning how to make such amazing tasting goodies. Not long ago, two new Indian restaurants opened and the closer and newest one is amazing – except for one dish that they keep making mistakes with. I’ve mentioned it to them twice now and the guy I suspect is the owner will look into it, but I assured him that everything else was wonderful and we’ll certainly be back.
We also started our kids out on vegetarian diets and joined with them in exploring various goodies, but slowly moved back to more normal diets that include various meat products. The result is that they like veggies about as much as they do meat so salads are not ignored in our home.
But this post of yours – I read it first thing in my morning and now I want pizza for breakfast. . .
Fun read. Hope you and yours are having a great weekend (or week).
    Blessings.

    1. Wow that is a good way of opening taste buds for kids. They become picky too fast. I hope you have pizza sometime today!😊
