We scratched off Mammoth Cave off our National Parks chart. Thanks to a good friend who got it for us. My younger one starred at the chart, chuckled and said good luck getting Appa (dad) to Hawaii and Alaska. Together they have 10 parks. Along with that there is one in American Samoa and one…

Who would you like to talk to soon? We are going to be with nature this weekend and I hope I am not going to talk to anyone! Yes, going to disconnect my internet connection and enjoy some reading and watching some shows that I have already downloaded along with some hikes. I make extensive…

With summer approaching it is spring cleaning time! Along comes with it is the change of guard or change of clothes! The winter wear are put aside and summer clothes pulled out. But it has not been a smooth transition. We have been having rains, yes my plants love them but it is chilly one…

Do you have any collections? From mugs to magnets and shot glasss (though we do not take a sip of alcohol 😃) I collect things during my travel. I also collect dolls for my Navaratri festival during my travels and of course there are picture collections. Yes our family picture is usually blown up and…

What is the legacy you want to leave behind? I think I have written for this prompt already but I felt I need to write something different. I have been learning the meaning of Narayaneeyam. A wonderful composition on Lord Guruvayoorappan written by Narayana Bhattadiri. As I was listening to Daksha Prajapati story in today’s…

How do you feel about cold weather? It has been a chilly day today. It maybe colder than normal. We had a high of 66 degrees. Life goes on as usual and this chill didn’t bother me. We went for a walk to a different park and I saw it was crowded. The park hall…

Today I made sojji and bajji. Nothing new just a sweet and savory. During the good old days of arranged marriage, the bride’s family entertains the groom’s family with this combo the first time they visit the house to see the would-be bride. This was in an effort to convince the groom family to accept…

Have you ever broken a bone? Yes I have or have I scatched one? I remember my arm in a sling for many days and getting all the attention. It happened when I was three years and eight months old. My mom was 9 months pregnant with my brother and we were at our maternal…

We are surrounded by colors all around our house. Most probably these would be removed sometime soon as they are just weeds! They are bittersweet nightshades but these tiny purple flowers attract my eyes. Most of our neighborhood has Clematis! We are lucky to see some of these purple in our yard! Purple, purple everywhere!…

What sacrifices have you made in life? We all make decisions all through our life. It is for the greater good of our family. When my son was young, my peers around me were trying to qualify themselves and find a job one way or another. Yes, even with a child they were able to…

A few weeks back I received a gift from my bestie. I told my husband that is what friends do. They understand people. I have my own collection of National Parks memorabilia but this one I can travel with! I didn’t receive one but two! One for me and one for my young man. My…

I am not a sincere “go green person”. A few weeks back my husband was cleaning a backpack that we take on our trips. It had plastic snack wrappers and quiet a few treasures that needed to end in the trash. Most of the parks we travel to have a motto “trash in, trash out”.…

Our yard desperately needs help and we have requested for manual labor. It is not cheap. Hopefully they will be coming soon. Today me and my husband tried to clean somethings up and I planted peas for the first time on my patch! Am I feeding the birds with the seeds or the new saplings…

This year Mom’s Day was quiet different! We had to cancel all of our young man’s events and take him out for a drive. Yes we skipped his Special Olympics and baseball games! Yes, I put myself first as I wanted to have some “me” time with my extended family. Yes, it was me saying…

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. I have been called a Super Mom multiple times by many! Ha ha, a situation was created and I just went through with it. I love teaching, and my young man became my student. Other than that, I did not or do not do anything extraordinary than anyone else to be…

This is my 1000th post. I really did not know what to write so just posted pictures of wildflowers from my walk today. I do not want to even know the names of these flowers, just wanted to enjoy them as it is. Of course, remembering Cee and her Flower of the Day.

I am happy when portion sizes at restaurants gets reduced. Instead of raising prices, I think a smaller portion is much better. I love smaller size snacks and drinks. One thing that is not popular in the States. We rarely take home leftover restaurant food. I have never enjoyed that, unless we made a mistake…
