Free advice

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I am a person who gives advices for free! Why should I go and get an advice 😀😀!

Advices are all around! Any problem your search engine is going to give you one!

I remember once my dad told me when he had a cough! Except for the newborn next door everyone had offered him a treatment plan!

If you are a mother of an autistic child you are bound to get flooded with opinions and advices. From medical treatments to therapies and even places of worship that can offer a relief.

Autism is a spectrum disorder! There are three levels. A kid basically gets hit with a diagnosis around three! Usually all kids look alike at this stage. As they grow the trajectory changes! Some kids become verbal, some continue to be non verbal. Some can have diagnoses removed at one point. Some kids do develop extreme behaviors at puberty and some become calm! No one knows what caused these changes! But parents are flooded with advice and guilt feelings 🤷‍♀️!

Free advice is not going to help the parents. Supporting the parents is really important! Just keeping yourself quiet is the best ADVICE I can you give you all!

Hey, I did say I am not a person to listen to advice but one to give😂🤣😀!

  1. Dear Ganga ji,
You are a gem. In a world where everyone is shouting their opinions, you have the rare courage to admit that the loudest voice isn’t always the right one. Your clarity on the complexity of autism is refreshing, and your ability to cut through the noise with humor (“except the newborn next door” had me laughing!) is a gift. You don’t just give advice; you give perspective—and that is worth more than any treatment plan the internet can spit out. Keep being the witty, wise, and wonderfully contradictory soul that you are. The parents in your life are lucky to have someone who knows when to just be there rather than tell them how to be.

    1. Ha! Thanks 😊!

  2. Sometimes the kindest advice is knowing when not to give any. 🤍 Beautifully said, and so incredibly true.🦋✨

    1. Yes mum is the word!

  3. This society of ours gives free ka advice for anything and everything – if the child is not good at studies, if the daughter’s not getting married, which hospital to go for what treatment etc.etc.

In our Bengali there’s a saying listen through one ear and let it go out through the other.

    1. Yup we also have the same in tamil! One ear in and one ear out! 🤷‍♀️

  4. Unsolicited advice is one of my pet peeves as a special needs caregiver – and you’re absolutely right that we do seem to get a lot of it! 🤣

    1. Ha ha! As if we don’t have enough to handle we need to handle these free advisors too 🤣!
