Home Sweet Home, July Wrap Up

July was a month we stayed home and relaxed. The weather was hot! The seasons change and we adapt.

The garden yielded tomatoes and cucumbers. I made my son plant some marigolds in small pots. This we did as an exercise project to create independence.

Will they bloom? Have to wait and see!

I wrote on my blog every single day and in the process messed up some things with my theme. I think I got it fixed.

I saw three movies this month, two with company and one alone. I would call this a movie month. Yes, checked off Odyssey.

Enjoyed a movie outdoors for a fundraiser! I gave my younger son company!

We did not visit any National parks or sites. But did visit the 125th Pennsylvania State park. We took our local train to Pittsburgh downtown couple of times and enjoyed a free Pirates game.

Threw away lot of my son’s old stuff and cleared a lot of space inside my house.

I cooked a lot! I tried new dishes and, in the process, engaged my son too. Yes, we have been publishing our Thursday cooking videos on his Facebook page.

My attempt of creating a veggie pattie and my younger kid shouted aloo tikki, close enough!

Bye Bye July! Embracing August with two hands.

  1. Quite a busy month Ganga. Nice.

  2. Dear Ganga ji,

What a beautifully grounded wrap-up of July! I love how you found so much richness right at home—from the garden’s tomatoes and cucumbers to those Thursday cooking videos with your son (the “aloo tikki” moment made me smile—close enough indeed!).

The marigold project with your son sounds like such a meaningful way to nurture both plants and independence; I hope they surprise you with bright blooms soon! And how wonderful that you carved out time for three movies, including an outdoor fundraiser—sometimes the simple joys of company and community are better than any grand adventure.

Visiting the 125th Pennsylvania State park and catching a free Pirates game via local train sounds perfectly nostalgic, and clearing out old stuff? Such a therapeutic way to make space—not just in the house, but in the mind too.

Even with the blog theme hiccups, you persisted and fixed it—that’s dedication. July may have been hot and slow, but it was full of small, intentional moments that truly matter. Wishing you a bright, breezy, and bountiful August—you’re embracing it with both hands, and I’m cheering you on!

    With warmth,
    Srikanth
