Wasting time?

How do you waste the most time every day?

The past two weekends, me and my husband decided to keep it free. We have an almost week long trip coming up so we decided to stay home and relax ourselves.

Our local temples had so many programs for the weekend yet we skipped it all. We didn’t visit any parks or do fun stuff outside.

Yet our weekend was tight and pretty busy.

Do you know how much work is there is a home? Running a household is not a joke. Add on to it the work pressure, managing finances and of course the doctor appointments do add so much flavor to it.

I did write that I scroll and binge watch TV shows as wasting time but truth be told that is my relaxing two moments.

I was once asked my a young girl she was then in High school if I was bored staying at home. I had an excuse that I was raising a special needs child then. Truth be told running a household is not easy. There is no free time and you are just postponing the work 🙂!

I am all for women working and making money! I think women need to get out of the house. But at the same time they should be respected for the work they do at home. Every day cooking should be valued. The clean kitchen and fresh laundry and a clean house should be appreciated and not taken for granted.

Monday morning musing ! 🤔

  1. So true! I can’t imagine myself doing all the work in the house. That would be too exhausting.

    1. It is exhausting more so because it is not given the proper respect.

  3. This resonates so deeply Ganga! There’s such a beautiful irony in deciding to “relax” at home, only to realize that home itself is a 24/7 operation with no clock-out time and no HR department. 😄

I love how you highlighted the invisible workload—the mental gymnastics of tracking appointments, juggling finances, and keeping the daily machinery running. That’s not just “housework”; that’s executive-level management.

And please, never apologize for the scrolling and binge-watching! Those aren’t wasted moments; they are tiny, essential lifeboats that keep us afloat amid the endless to-do lists. You aren’t postponing work—you’re strategically preserving your sanity.

Your point about respect is everything. Encouraging women to step out and earn is powerful, but it should never come at the cost of diminishing the monumental effort it takes to build a warm, safe, and clean sanctuary at home. Every hot meal, fresh towel, and organized space is an act of love and labor that deserves genuine appreciation.

Thank you for this honest Monday morning reminder. Here’s to seeing the profound value in the everyday grind—and to fiercely protecting those precious two moments of peace whenever we can get them! 👏✨
