Sunday snapshots

Summer is here. All the icecream shops are open. We were again off to another state park yesterday. Saturday’s thunderstorm was really a welcome sign for the plants.

Moraine State Park is a “home” park for our family. Lake Arthur with a beach, biking trails and picnic tables is something an option we use when there is no need for a detailed planning.

Yet a few years ago there was a bicycle rental shop over there with bathroom facilities that burnt down. It was on the local news. It was sad and we avoided going to that side.

Yesterday we wanted to have our walk on the bicycle path and decided to park on that side and “surprise” the bicycle rental shop was back. Yes, back and better than ever. An icecream shop and a snack shop really made my young man so happy.

For this side of the park, life really moved on. It showed me the fire that happened was for good! I am so happy for them.

Life is interesting isn’t it! I didn’t expect anything on that side of the park and I was surprised. The funny part I didn’t even research anything since I knew all about the place.

We did walk on the bicycle path and even hiked a small loop on a trail inspite it being a hot day. The place was buzzing with people and the rental shop was busy. They had tandem bikes and even a tricycle for rental! It was full of positive energy. I think I really needed that along with the fresh air.

Just need to be cautious
A roadside attraction? Nope an icecream shops enroute to the park.

There are 125 State Parks in Pennsylvania. How many are we going to visit? How many have we visited? I need to start an excel sheet to log in the same 😃! No, I got myself a notebook and have started journaling it with a pen!

That is all for today! Happy Monday All.

  1. What a lovely and uplifting reflection.

I especially enjoyed the unexpected discovery of the rebuilt rental shop. There’s something wonderfully symbolic about returning to a familiar place, carrying old memories of loss, and finding new life where there was once devastation. Your observation that “life moved on” captures that feeling beautifully.

  2. Sounds like a perfect “no plans needed” kind of park day. I Love how something that once felt like a loss (the fire and closure) turned into a surprise comeback with ice cream and bikes.
There’s something really refreshing about those moments when you think you know a place, and it quietly reminds you it’s still growing and changing right along with life.
    Happy Monday Vermavkv!
