Pickleball review!

The pickleball set arrived three weeks ago. I opened it and tried playing with it inside the house. I was really skeptical to take it outside. I was a bit nervous too. Will I be able to play it? I decided to leave it aside.

Yesterday was the DAY finally 😄! I took the bat and the ball and went outside with my young man. He was not thrilled but we both found out soon it was not tough. He was not enthusiastic about playing. He hit whatever was coming his way and definitely was not a target. The light ball made it easy to hit. The ball bounced so you had multiple chances to hit the same. The ball didn’t travel much for us to run after. Definitely a senior citizen game 😄!

As I kept thinking, rain started and within 15 minutes we had to be inside the house. Around 7 pm again our second rendezvous with the same happened. Ha this time my husband was around. He lifted the bat (should have seen his expression) and said “this is heavy, good for him” and gave it to my young man. With my husband on the field we both played nearly half an hour. Not many rallies of going back and forth but trying to hit something.

My grandfather loved playing tennis. His brother was once appreciated by Wimbledon champion Perry. I hope there is a dormant sports gene inside me that is going to help me improve my game.

My journey with pickle 🥒 ball has begun!

I also took a pledge to cook with my son every Thursday and post it on facebook. I got five likes 😄! But fb told me my reel reached 200 views😂!

So what did we make? We made a tomato chutney and spread it on bread slices to make a grilled sandwich!

No pictures of me playing pickle ball but here is the Tomato chutney.

  1. This is such a joyful and relatable slice of everyday life. The way you’ve captured that mix of hesitation, small courage, and eventual fun makes the whole experience feel warm and real. I especially loved the family dynamic—those little moments with your son and husband bring a natural charm and humor to the story. And ending it with cooking together adds another layer of connection and growth. It’s not just about pickleball—it’s about trying, sharing, and enjoying the journey.
