Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?
Interests wax and wane.
When I think of hobbies, stamp collection comes like a flash! Growing up me and my brother were interested in it. The sad part, we didn’t collect many! From pebbles to leaves kids love collecting things! Aren’t we all a pack rat.
One interest that waxes and wanes with me is cooking! I am not a hardcore cook. I never bake nor make any Indian sweets. But I am a foodie so my daily cooking is decent. I need to eat right? Teaching my young man cook also has me mastered in some basic things.
That said, I am not a huge fan of collecting vessels. Cast iron seems to be the healthy option. But I develop allergic cough using the same. So, I have been using nonstick tawa for my dosas! Few months back while trying to replace my nonstick tawa, I accidentally bought a cast iron one! Do you know the work involved with it to make it good! The tawa lay alone. I cared less. I ordered a non stick one and moved on with my life!
With the onset of cold air and being locked inside my house for longer time, kitchen cleaning started happening. I pulled the cast iron tawa! I sliced an onion, poured oil and started seasoning it. Couple of seasonings later, I poured the batter! Voila! Crispy dosas started coming out.
Okay, my interest in cooking on an iron tawa is back again? Does that mean I am going to purchase all healthy cast iron utensils! Nah! But my experiments may continue when I do have the time. A dormant interest, when given the right situation can shine up like a bright volcano!
I present here onion and green chilly oothappam or rice pancakes on my iron tawa 😊! I have my own blog! I can boast!
