The choice is mine!

It’s been two weeks since we came back from a trip amd half of January is done. The weather moved from luke warm to frigid overnight as I saw a fresh blanket of snow outside my bathroom window. Unlike so many places we are not going to get anything much.

Did it look depressing or is January depressing? Happiness or sadness is just a state of our mind. Nothing external should be the reason for it. It was raining hard yesterday and I had to jump across puddles in the parking lot to reach my car. A four year old would have jumped and got his shoes and socks wet and enjoyed those puddles. Meanwhile I was worried about getting wet 🙂!

Just a self reflection this morning. No one or no external factor is going to create my happiness or sadness. The choice is mine 😊.

Yes, it is a cold snowy or say a frigid morning and things are back on routine and I promise myself I am going to be happy

By the way the more I create that mentality nothing or no one can affect my state of mind.

You’ve touched on something profound: the conscious choice to claim your own inner weather, regardless of the frigid air outside or the routine of January. The contrast between the worried adult avoiding puddles and the joyful child splashing in them is a perfect, poignant image. It’s a gentle reminder that our perspective is the lens through which we experience the world.

Your realization that happiness or sadness is a state of mind, not a mandate from external circumstances, is a cornerstone of true resilience. It’s not about denying the cold or the snow, but about deciding not to let them frost over your spirit. The promise you make to yourself this morning is the most important promise you can keep.
