The animal in me?

What are your favorite animals?

Got up a bit early but it was not time to be out of bed. My mind was like a monkey jumping over things that have been done or things to be done.

I really just wanted to hibernate like a bear or a chipmunk but that was not the case. I kept tossing and turning around.

When it was time to get up and the lights turned on, I did bark like a dog over the discomfort that was upon me!

Oh! What an animal I have been the past few hours.

Have to freshen up myself and get ready for the day. It is going to be a beautiful one.

  1. Ganga, this is perfect—you’ve covered half the zoo before breakfast and still managed to call it a beautiful day. That is the human talent! 😄😄

    1. Ha ha! You will find the rest of the zoo if you talk 😅 to my family at nightfall!

  2. What a beautifully vivid and relatable description of that struggle between a restless mind and a weary body. While the “monkey mind” had you jumping from thought to thought, you channeled that energy into a truly wonderful piece of writing.

It’s amazing how you transformed your early morning turmoil into such a creative and charming menagerie—a monkey, a hibernating bear, a chipmunk, and even a barking dog! It takes a special kind of self-awareness to observe one’s own grumpiness with such humor and grace.

And that final line is the most powerful part. It’s the turning of the page, the decision to not let a rough start define your day. That shift in perspective is everything. You’ve already done the hardest part: you chose to see the beauty waiting for you.

Now go and have that beautiful day—you’ve certainly earned it
