The Montour Trail

What is your favorite place to go in your city?

This is very simple prompt for me. No questions asked. Montour Trail all around Pittsburgh our favorite place to be! Unless there is snow on the ground we are there pretty much all through the year.

Comfortable parking trail heads and a flat surface to walk a mile or two. Couple of trail heads do have icecream shops an added bonus for hot summer evenings. The trail does connect to the Great Allegheny Passageway that makes it way to Washington DC through Chesapeake and Ohio Cannel. This curiosity has lead us all the way to Washington DC this spring. Did we go into the city? No we just enjoyed the end of the GAP trail at the Great Falls.

The GAP trail does connect to the Appalachian trail that runs from Maine to Georgia. Pretty much you can walk or bike all the way from Pittsburgh 😀😀😀!

    Your spring trip to the Great Falls sounds like the perfect adventure—enjoying the monumental endpoint without the need for the city hustle. And of course, the promise of an ice cream shop at the end of a summer walk is the perfect reward!

    A lovely view of the River. I can hear and smell the freshness of the water. Must be worth the hike for that view! 😊
