Retirement me?

How do you want to retire?

For many years now, from the birth of my first child I have been a home maker. I transitioned into a CEO of the my son’s every day living and now I formally work with him too.

There is no retirement for me. It is me and him death do us apart. As I write this blog and watch him out from my living room window, as he walks up and down the driveway my brain keeps planning what to do to make his life good today. Is he going to become typical? No anything to make his quality of living better. Even if he is in the care of anyone else I would continue to do the same.

I write this for all the special needs parents out there! So the title to the post should be “retirement us”?

  1. So interesting to read this post as I just came from a lovely retirement party for our CEO tonight. And to read this contrasting thought from you provided a fascinating contrast. Work for us special needs caregivers never does end. It is indeed till death do us part!
