“Not my cup of tea”! This has been reverberating in me the past few days.
I heard from a friend who mentioned this phrase when I asked her if she was going to a particular seminar. It really stuck with me since then! Though she could have attended it was not to her taste.
With my special young man right from the day of diagnosis it has been us trying to find his cup of tea. What would work for him.
When we were at the Special Olympics even last Saturday to the cooking he did with me yesterday we have definitely move towards what would be best for him!
Yes, swimming is not his cup of tea. He just enjoys being in the water! He cannot do that as a sport. When parents were discussing about a special needs theater I didn’t even feel like my boy was missing something! Yes that is not his cup of tea.
We made a video of him singing or more like him trying to follow the tune and it felt so close to him. Yes, music is his cup of tea and while he measured sugar in the kitchen for me I felt that cooking was his cup of tea!
It lead me to think more as to what my cup of tea was and over the years I have come up with my cup of tea! Yes, the things I do have nothing to do with peer pressure nor for anyone but for me to have a sane life.
