The planets aligned?

A personal work made us drive North! When I told a good friend of mine that we were driving up, she suggested why not visit the Niagara Falls. Yes, after a polar vortex that plunged so far down south, there was some hope Niagara would be frozen! When I checked various social media websites people did suggest it was not frozen and it was very much alive.

There was high wind warning forecasted and it wasn’t until 3.30 pm we reached Niagara Falls! It was bright and sunny and as we approached the falls, it started becoming cold 🥶! Was the falls frozen, no way, but when they did land the water did freeze!

The Niagara river falls down as Niagara Falls
Then freezes for the snow to accumulate 😀
Fresh snow in the park

The Niagara river, a huge river, was frozen on the sides but flowing casually! The sight and sounds today are one for memory!

The magnanimous Niagara river flowing but frozen in parts and we could see the ice moving the snow!

The time we spent at the falls was just 30 minutes! We saw only one part of it! Yup, we couldn’t walk anymore. We truly underestimated the strength of the winds.

But, we did walk around a mile and the best part was we got parking so close to the park!

We returned back home late at night to see our driveway all clear of snow! Overall it was a great day!

This was a very unplanned trip! A trip not in my bucket list! Maybe the planets that alligned yesterday had something to do with my visit! Or it maybe my husband being a weather junkie, was also curious and took on my friend’s suggestion! Anyway whatever it was an experience!

    1. I think the falls froze in 1800s! It should take a lot of cold to freeze those!

P.S. I’m just realizing I may actually be a big fan of waterfalls…
