Getting the energy to flow!

My husband and my younger one were arguing over lunch which was unhealthy? My home cooked Ven Pongal (rice lentils and clarified butter combo) or a chipotle wrap! My son asked Chatgpt for the answer and Chatgpt gave a smart answer saying it all depends on the toppings.

After a week of sickness it was getting back on foot. My special one is still not one hundred percent. He has no voice. We have a feeling our flow of energy has not been restored after travel and sickness. If my boy sleeps, I am taking a nap with him.

Me and my husband did listen to Thiruppavai lectures this past week. An amazing Tamil poetry and comparison was made between that and Ramayana. Anyway, these are things that need to be heard multiple times for it to be remembered! Andal, the poet had talked about a wonderful sweet in her hymn and today I made the dish. The ghee, clarified butter oozes from the food onto our palm and flows down the elbow is what is mentioned. Okay, it felt good. But I was not comfortable addimg so much ghee. But attempt of making Akkaraivadisal, the sweet dish was a success.

Substituted browm sugar for jaggery

A trip to the temple yesterday evening, making a dish today all were things attempted by me to make myself active and kick start the energy flow.

We have another round of snow coming this evening and I am trying to welcome it with open arms. Winter is going to be loooong.

  1. So, I had to look up jaggery as I had never heard of it and now I get why you used brown sugar. Across the world from India, one of our hot breakfasts was rice with milk and brown sugar. I don’t think we added nuts but if we had we’d have (not even going to try to spell the dish)! Isn’t that funny!

I am not familiar with the taste of saffron and wouldn’t even know where to start with it, but the rest of the dish sounds warm and comforting. Hope you and your boy are on the mend and back to normal soon.

We are currently getting the snow that is headed your way. What a January we have had!

    1. Nuts and saffron are things that have been added recently I think. In fact saffron is very expensive and not an Indian ingredient. When added to a sweet it does smell and taste amazing.
Btw it is just 10th of January and I checked two week forecast, that snow and cold are not going anywhere. Have to find ways to beat the blues!
