Learning to sit

You can’t teach old dog new tricks! Or a proverb in my language that which cannot be bent at 5 cannot be bent at 50.

I started my yoga classes just two tears back! Nothing too complicated but I still feel I did loose a lot of years not taking care of myself. Anyway I have my kids to blame for the same! Yes juggling too many things.

I had to attend a Bhagavad Gita chanting at our temple today. It was Gita Jayanti, the day Lord Krishna gave Arjuna the entire Bhagavad Gita in the middle of the battlefield. Our group today chanted the 700 verses non stop with no breaks for two and half hours.

Let me tell you, my body was not cooperating. The reason being we had to sit on the floor and chant. I felt bad about moving my body so much during the time the text was chanted. So I am thinking out loud, can I create new endurance for sitting on the floor? I thought that was a simple thing.. Yesterday I wrote about walking and today it is sitting. Yes, as we age simple things need to be trained 😀!

The above verse from Chapter 6 of Bhagavad Gita.

  1. Even a 50 year old oak tree can be bent if one has patience and nurtures its nature. It make take years, but it can be done. Like the mighty oak I am sure you could train yourself to sit on the floors for many hours. It may take years, but you being a dedicated mother and wife, I know you have the patience.
