October was warm and winter started slowly creeping in the month of November! I feel it completely settled in today! Life was routine the first three weeks of November and most of our fun stuff happened this week!

Yes a museum and a battle ground visit happened during last weekend and we made to the theater to watch The Gladiator during the week. It was the first time, we went with our boy to an English movie for an evening show. It was a two and half hour movie. We spent more money on snacks than the tickets. That is another story.

My younger one didn’t know we had canceled our plans to run the YMCA Pittsburgh Turkey Trot. He just registered himself and told us he was going to run it! My husband was not excited about it. But when we went to get his packet picked up, we registered our special one for the one mile event! Call us race junkies. The deal was my younger one would be finishing off his 5k and would be able to take his brother on the mile walk!

Thanks to the organizers the start line and the finish line were close by! I was shuttling myself between these two lines so I can have pictures taken. It was a very cold morning with temperatures just being 39 degrees Fahrenheit and it was feeling like 29 degrees and of course we had rain. Remember all the reasons we didn’t want to do it. With my husband and myself on the sidelines my younger one successfully walked his brother for a mile! It rained hard the last ten minutes of their walk but the medal and the finish line atmosphere just made it sweet!
By the way, we understood Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is going to be a family tradition which we hope not to miss anymore.
I had planned a simple Thanksgiving dinner but this year we did have two kinds of Turkeys. A fruit salad and a vegetable salad turkey! Of course this is our first attempt and our entire family participated in making it. Hopefully this too will become a part of our tradition!

By the way if you are curious what I purchased finally on Thanksgiving sale, I immersed myself inside the Amazon river and found a good deal for an instant pot!
With my autistic son, traditional method of celebrations and travel are not possible. But as a family we have found ways to be in the community and enjoy things. That is what this week was all about. When the volunteer at the Turkey Trot handed my boy the medal, the smile on both their faces made my day. Yes, we were shivering and had a 0.6 miles to walk back to the car but it was all worth it.
