Shopping in India

My India shopping bucket list was small when I came here last week. But, capitalism has really taken over the country and I have succumbed to some impulse shopping.

Anyhow, my list did include idli plates. The moulded plates steam rice cakes. I had seen different shapes on the internet and I really wanted to get some.

Yesterday I found these heart shapes ones being sold on a road side platform shop. They looked cute. I didn’t care about the quality at that point. I was happy to give business to a small vendor. I gave him the asking price and left the shop. My husband picked up a stainless lunch box and I was surprised he did some shopping.

When I came home, my mom told me the things I got were good quality. Yes, it was good deal and a win win situation 😊!

My idli moulds purchased at a road side shop
Mall
Food court
Burger king and Taco Bell, things that were not there when I was growing up!

I am not a shopaholic. I buy things when I need them. But there are too many things around when I step out of the house. It is attracting me too! Maybe I just need to keep my wallet at home when I leave the house 😃!

  1. Nowadays when we can pay with our phones, leaving the housr without a form of payment becomes much harder 🙂

    1. Ha ha! I can be given an award for coming out of an artificial jewelry shop after just window shopping 😃! Maybe too many years of not shopping!

  3. I like the little heart shaped rice molds! … I know fast food places are in other countries, but it still seems funny to see them. I know we saw a lot in Japan when we were there, too. 🙂

    1. These stores cater the taste of the local people. So here in India the fries can be spicy!
