A feeling of guilt

When we went for our evening walk, we noticed kids coming out of the soccer field. It did flood me with memories of taking my younger son to these soccer practices. When he turned three, that was the first sport that we introduced to him. It was the first time I had to change gears to a mom with a typical child, and we as parents had to start handling two different kinds of roles.

Coming to the present day, I felt some kind of guilt. I felt I was free, and it did not feel good. Yes, all those years of multitasking had really set in my brain, and when I did not have anything to do today, I felt I was doing something wrong.

I think the feeling of guilt started right after dinner. My special one was helping his dad in the kitchen. Yes, he does unload the dishes for his dad to load later. I was just sitting and watching a really long video on my phone. (Anyhow I did finish watching the video, even though I felt guilty)!

So after dinner, when I went to the park and saw the field, I started feeling a bit more guilty.

I conveyed this to my husband, and his answer was, “You do not know how to enjoy life.

Anyway, my boy had accomplished a lot today. It was a busy day with me, and when the day was winding down, it felt as if there needed to be more to the day.

  1. Maybe sometimes “no news is good news” – both your boys are being more independent, each one within his own abilities, and are doing much better than they did in the past.

  3. As specia needs parents, we are really prone to guilt for all kinds of reasons. There should be a dial somewhere so we can adjust it.

    1. Yes! We were told to do 8 hours a day 5 days a week of therapies! Add on diet and activities we are just tuned for it. No one told us when to stop. I keep saying until death do us apart!

  5. It is good to have time for ourselves. They set us free. What is your younger son studying?

    1. My younger son is in college, second year. He lives there and not home. So yes all of a sudden I feel I have time 😊.
