Giant Ironweed

I love the color purple. Found this beauty on my walk on the trail yesterday. Few days back on our walk, my husband found a six foot long black snake. (I did not take a picture, but I can remember my husband running back towards me very well😀😀 and me screaming). It was on a different trail. Yet, all trails are connected with each other and by a stream. So that snake’s family maybe close by was my thought. I had that in my mind while I went to take a picture. We haven’t ventured into that trail that had the long snake after that incident. I think that has to happen sooner or later 😊.

  1. Are black snakes known in your area to be venomous, or was it just scary in general?

We do have 3 types of black snakes here in Israel that all look very much alike to the untrained eye, and two are venomous, and one of them may even be thr most venomous in Israel. The not so venomous one is of a type that is short tempered and bites a lot of people anyway. So if we do see a black snake, we need to get away.

Of course this applies to actual snakes, not to tails of black cats that tend to look like snakes at nighttime when the cat is hiding in the bushes and only its tail is showing…

    1. We have no idea if it is poisonous. But we know about it. There is lot of foot traffic with joggers and walkers so they do not usually come out.
