A year ago, I mentioned a poem called Welcome to Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley. I was introduced to this poem by a therapist from India when my son was three. Here is the link to the poem. https://www.emilyperlkingsley.com/welcome-to-holland
It is about planning a trip to Italy but ending up in Holland. Yes, when you are pregnant, you plan for a particular journey with your child, but it ends up in a different destination.
August is very sentimental for me since my son’s birthday falls this month. He would be turning 27 on the 11th. I am hoping to blog about things I would have never attempted without my boy. Yes, my experiences in Holland. All of August, I may come up with these experiences. It is not anything that I have planned but my HA moments. This would have never happened if not for autism.
So here is the first experience. Yesterday, me and my boy made vazhakai bajjis. That is, raw plantains fritters. I had to see so many videos online and attempt to make them myself so that they look and taste like those available in small street corner tea shops in Chennai. In fact, I enjoyed the whole process. I am not interested in cooking, but I did it for my boy, who loves to cook. Bajjis are his favorite.
The art of cooking, a tulip I found in Holland.
