Travel food

What foods would you like to make?

Food postings usually get a lot of views 😊. Therefore, I am going to make an attempt for this question.

My grandmother, the story teller, used to tell us how in olden days people carried all groceries and vessels when they visited pilgrim centers. The reason being, food was not available and also they needed food that suited their taste.

When I was little, I used to tell her we would not be cooking or eating since there would be many hotels/restaurants. 😄

Fast forward, 2024 here I am in United States of America and I pack food, groceries and my instant pot when I travel.

My husband is a very picky eater and I do that. But, I found a lot of people doing the same to save money on food and yes after a few days of eating out you crave a home cooked meal😄.

I am proud about my meal planning amd cooking and picnic lunches. I feel I fed my family healthy food and I have some ego over it 😄😄!

You do not need an entire kitchen in your hotels. The microwave and refrigerator in hotels is a boon 😄.

Anyhow I heard yesterday, there are tours operated to historical places with a chef who come along. He prepares customized food. The tours operate from India. I hope im future I am able to tour with them and not worry about food.

Until then my culinary skills for travel will continue 😊😊😊!

A selection of food I carried or prepared on my trip to West Virginia last month. We stayed at a mountain cabin a little too far from fast food civilization.😊

Hi Uma, when I was little , my family and my Aunt Janey’s family and my Grandma and Grandad, we used to go to Nags Head North Carolina for our summer vacation. Back then there were not big grocery stores like now, just little local stores. My Mom and Aunt used to bring frozen casseroles and my Aunt would bring her griddle to make pancakes. My Aunt had 4 boys and I had three brothers. That was a lot of work for them but they did it every year.

1st, tell that picky husband to get over it. (just kidding) 2nd. One of the reasons I like to travel is to taste the local food. So I do not always pack a lot. Yes I do use the local supermarkets and try to cook when I am on extended stays at one place. Plus, although I like to cook, I cook everyday, sometimes it is just nice not to have to cook. I realize that being an old white male from the USA I do not follow very many dietary restrictions, so I can understand your point of view. I do feel that you may be missing out on some good foods though. Just my humble opinion.
