Beginning of June, I took up a midyear resolution that I would cut down on my screen time. I think I have successfully achieved the same. Yes, I carry my phone less, use a bit more of a laptop (it helps with me not binge watching), and I put away my phone at a particular time at time and try not to pick it up until it is morning. Yes, no more midnight browsing.

My husband and myself had some midnight coughs all through the month of June. Our fridge and dishwasher were out of commission, and we had to purchase a new refrigerator and a dishwasher. It was a messy month, but we did end up spending the last week of June at a cabin in West Virginia. It did make up for a hard and long month.

It had been my goal to do a 10km walk this summer. With our cough, we barely made 10,000 steps a day. But we did end June with the bang; yes, we walked 10 km, but we did it in two parts on a single day.

Early morning, we did a beautiful 4-mile walk on a trail. We returned back to our cabin, had our lunch, and then went to see a waterfall. I should say, three waterfalls, since we had upper, middle, and lower level falls on a 3/4 mile walk. The 1 and a half-mile roundtrip hike was not on a flat surface but a steep downhill.
Yes, the morning walk and the afternoon hike to the falls with my teeny tiny other steps, I completed my 10k walk. Yes, I did cheat on it, but I think I know I have to stamina to do a 10km walk, hopefully in one stretch by the time summer ends.

We stayed in a beautiful cabin in Monongahela National Forest. This is the second year we are staying at a cabin. Last year we did at Sault Ste Marie in Canada. If you are a person who loves the woods but does not want to camp outside, I would recommend this option. My special boy is not a fan of these places, but I feel these places offer him a lot of learning opportunities. The internet connection was very bad. But we did survive the place! When we drove back to civilization this morning and saw a Diary Queen ice cream shop board, I could see a smile on my son’s face.😄
