What makes a teacher great?
When I was in Grade 10 or 10th Standard my dad asked me if I wanted to be a teacher. I told him, I did not want to be. I had other big dreams.
Fast forward more than thirty years, I can say with confidence I am a pretty good teacher. For the past two and half decades I am the only teacher and therapist my son can depend on.
To be a great teacher you do not need a degree or mastery in a particular subject, just the confidence your students can learn. My father in law who was a teacher used to say he would take no credit for toppers in his class. I agree with him. Yes, a true teacher is a person who can bring up kids who are in the bottom of the class.
Encouraging the child, finding their strengths and weaknesses and improving upon them is what makes a teacher great!
Maybe this post may look like I have too much ego about teaching my son. But at this point I can say with confidence my method works!
I am stuck with little internet and unable to post pictures with proof 😊!
