Embarking on Mindfulness

An uneventful weekend is over. The temperature dropped, and thunderstorms rolled.

We went to the park for a walk, but it started raining. So we parked at the nearest pizza shop. The kids had pizza, and we watched the rain fall. The sun came back again. We drove back to the park and made a two-mile walk. We came back home, and another round of storms hit us. I would say we were lucky.

We did not think much about thunderstorms today. We did not get worried about the rain. We went with the flow. Everything worked out fine. I told my husband we sometimes overthink, worry, and lose our happiness in our lives.

I liked how today worked out. When the rain came, we just made a stop. If it had continued, we would have just come back home. Yes, we would not have walked that two miles! But it happened.

I enrolled myself in a mindfulness course online. I have just finished two modules. But I am thoroughly enjoying the course. I really needed to do something for my hyperactive and multitasking brain. I think a mindfulness course is perfect for me.

If you do not know what mindfulness is, the definition is the act of paying attention, on purpose, to all elements of our experience with an attitude of open acceptance, non-judgment, and compassion.

I think us stopping and enjoying the rain was a mindfulness experience.

Beginning the weekend on a positive note. Embarking on a new journey called mindfulness.

  1. I sometimes joke that I majored in Overthinking 101 in college. It’s so much more relaxing to just go with the flow!

I know my wife would like me to practice “Mindfulness” around her.
