Pani puri

Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

My parents took me to a restaurant called Shanti Vihar. North Indian food was not available everywhere but only at this restaurant. I was introduced to chats and when I order any chats at an Indian restaurant here I remember my visit with them to Shanti Vihar. I remember falling down as with plate of paani poori, and breaking the plate. I was a clumsy kid with two left feet😊. My mom was introduced to paani poori by her cousins when she was a teenager. She stayed with them in Delhi for couple of months and whenever we ate paani poori my mom would narrate her Delhi saaga with her cousins. Cousins are your first friends and I really bad for the current generation kids. With people having fewer kids there aren’t cousins at all!

If you love tangy spicy with a bit of sweetness try this one out! You can find them on the menu under chat corner😊.

It is funny. For me it is a simple bologna and cheese sandwiches on plain white bread. We could take them outside and eat during the summer. Of course I can have them whenever I want now, but they are still special.

    1. We have strong association with food and memory and childhood memories are stronger.
