First Harvest

A box of 16-ounce strawberries costs around 3 dollars and fifty cents on average. Two years ago, we purchased two or three strawberry plants for the same price, expecting to make some profit. Nothing happened. As I said, our bunnies were one reason, and last year the weather did not cooperate.

But this year, we worked hard, and thanks to the beautiful weather, we harvested two huge strawberries. We have a few more on two plants. Strawberries are perennial plants. They come back after winter on their own, and we were surprised to see them grow big this year. My husband fixed the fence around it, and thanks to him, he made his first harvest.

I searched the internet to see how many strawberries would be in a pound. It showed around 12 to 15. If I can harvest ten more this season, I would say I got back on my investment in one plant.

I am not planning on becoming wealthy by investing in strawberries, but at least on paper, I should show some profit.

Just a footnote: me and my younger son each consumed one strawberry and celebrated the occasion.

  2. I got nearly a punnet full of strawberries this year! They’re the average -sized variety. I got 10 plants for my birthday last year. Now, I have 50+!/, and they’re very generous lol I battle with the slugs, though. Here’s looking forward to more strawberries!
