Memorable book from the past.

Do you remember your favorite book from childhood?

Every year, we have a book exhibition in our city. My dad made sure to visit one. He used to buy a lot of books. But he bought books in both English and Tamil. My mom read the books for us. From phantom comics to amar chitra kathas, or chapter books, she used to read for us. Every year, we have a book exhibition in our city. My dad made sure to visit one. He used to buy a lot of books. But he bought books in both English and Tamil. My mom read the books for us. From phantom comics to amar chitra kathas, or chapter books, she used to read for us.

My parents were avid readers, and I think that was one culture in which I grew up. I got Puss in Boots as a prize in first grade, and my dad got a book called Mark and Mandy Helping Mother. I remember my mom reading these books multiple times. Every time I see the movie Puss in Boots, I remember sitting with my mom and reading the book. Yes, some memories cannot be forgotten. I also remember asking my mom to read a book called Mark and Mandy Helping Mother. Two kids, who were naughty, helped their mom when she was sick. I vaguely remember the book, but when I saw the prompt, that was the book that came to mind. I checked Amazon and found the book costs 52 dollars!

My favorite memory is meeting a famous Tamil author, Sivasankari, one time at the exhibition.

Unlike today’s parents, my parents did not have any plans to teach reading with flashcards and apps. They just did their duty. They just did their duty, and we kids turned out fine.

  1. Our times were different and this time is different. Flash cards are a good way to teach kids too as I did with my grandson

  2. It’s always shocking to see that a book we loved as a child is now so expensive.

  3. Books have always been a part of my life. My paternal grandfather used to read aloud to us from our epics. I will always cherish those memories.
