I have seen blogging prompts like, Are you superstitious or do you believe in superstition? I did write that everyone has one kind of superstition or another. Here is a personal tale. Let me know if I am superstitious or not.
I took a picture of a strawberry flower yesterday evening. We got this plant nearly two years ago. One year, the rabbits ate the berries. The next year, we were confident it would not be touched by the critters since we put a small fence around it. By the way, strawberries are perennial plants. They pop out on their own. But because the weather was so hot, we did not get any fruit.
Yesterday, I was surprised to see flowers and fruits. Tiny little berries. I was scared to take a picture since I did not want to jinx it. Yet, I decided to take a picture of this tiny flower.
Exactly 24 hours later, my younger son came running down, shouting, Two rabbits are in our garden. We both rushed, or, I would say, rolled, to our garden. The rabbits ran away. I slowly walked to the strawberry plant. I did not see any flowers. I also saw a half-eaten strawberry. Yes, we had been attacked. I delivered the sad news to my husband. He told me the fence had given up in some places, and he had got some ties, which should secure the fence strongly to the ground. My husband is confident that his trick is going to work.
I do not think the rabbits had anything to do with my strawberries being destroyed. It all happened because I took a picture too soon. I jinxed it myself by taking a picture of the flower. Maybe I made a mistake! I still keep pondering!
