Mother’s Day

A mother is a person who thinks about her children all the time. They are her babies until her last breath. She wishes nothing but good for her kids. Happy Mother’s Day to my amma, whom I know is thinking about me and my brother (equally 😊) all the time.

Okay, I am a mom to two handsome sons. What was my gift for Mother’s Day? It all started with my dishwasher slowly breaking down. The insurance company informed us that they would rather replace the dishwasher than repair it. Yay, a new dishwasher for Mother’s Day!

Friday night dinner to avoid Mothers Day crowd!

Anyway, me and my husband decided on something different for today. We had two different programs for my special one. In the morning, he had a Special Olympics track event, and in the afternoon, he had his Miracle League baseball game.

Medals today at Special Olympics!
Opening day introductions, cheering by High School Cheer leaders! Miracle League Field.

My husband and my younger son took my boy to both events. I was at home, taking care of all the household chores. Yes, I was stripped of my duty as a caretaker for my boy for the entire day. I just discharged my duties at home as a mom. I just did laundry, cooking, and dishwashing.

Shuttling a typical kid between classes is hard; imagine shuttling a person with special needs! It is double the effort. I was stripped of that duty today, and I really rested at home. My special boy came home with three medals after his Olympic event. He was too tired for the baseball, yet we pushed him. He attended the opening ceremony and the game successfully. I rested at home, and my job was done by my younger son and my husband. Thanks to them for giving me a resting day. Yes, Mother’s Day is tomorrow, but I got a big gift a day early.

Mothers wear multiple hats these days. It is in the nature of women to plan and organize. They automatically take on more responsibility than men. In the fast food world, with messages getting passed at lightning speed, a mom runs more than a marathon runner. I salute all the moms out there wearing one too many hats and doing them successfully. Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers out there!

Mother’s Day wishes with a rose from my garden!
