Pondicherry to Pennsylvania

My husband is from Pondicherry, India. Our marriage engagement happened here. The British ruled the entire country; some portions were controlled by the French. Pondicherry was one that was ruled by the French. The architecture of the city is beautiful. It was on my engagement day that I visited the city for the first time. I remember our small van being held up by a policeman asking for documents. I was so nervous. Was it because it was my engagement ceremony or the police?

If you want to know more about Pondicherry, a major tourist attraction you can check it out here.

My father-in-law settled himself in Pondicherry, but our fate made us move to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is a beautiful state with the Allegheny Mountain Ranges. We have hiked on most of the Greater Allegheny passageway. A trail that runs from Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. We have visited most of the cities in this state.

Our decision to move from a particular place involves so many factors. Initially, we moved because of my husband’s work. But now my special needs son takes priority. We know his needs. We know change is not good for him. He enjoys a routine. He loves to travel, but he wants to be home in his room. I think we have created that atmosphere for him here.

The grass may look greener on the other side. But we have made the decision to plant ourselves in Pennsylvania.

By the way, we are talking about places that begin with the letter “P.”  We have been to Plymouth, Massachusetts. The pilgrims on Mayflower did plant themselves in Plymouth.

So for A to Z challenge in April

P is for Pondicherry, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Plymouth

  3. I like your letter ‘P’ for the challenge. Pittsburg was a place we considered living in, but the jobs didn’t manifest. Your photos remind me of how interesting it is, as is the state of Pennsylvania.

  4. My partner and I were living in Ireland for a decade but decided to move back to England to be closer to the grandchildren growing up. We considered the idea of going to Pondicherry between the two states of residence as we read about the International City that has been built there. We have always wanted to visit India but thought that going to one place for a short while might be better than rushing around the whole sub-continent. For various reasons the trip did not happen but I still think about it whenever I hear Pondicherry mentioned…
