When I thought about the letter “O,” I just remembered Ontario. I then asked my husband to name a place that began with the letter; he replied, Oregon.
Portland, Oregon, is the first place we lived in the US. Who can forget their first experience of living in a new country? My memory of the tiny apartment we lived in is the smell of the Tide we got from Target. In fact, we lived a minimalist life. You do not need much when the family is small. Weekends were spent with our friends. I remember inviting friends for lunch and asking them to come late because I had the wrong lentil with me. I was just learning to cook.

I should now move on to Ontario. My brother lives in Toronto, Ontario. Even before he moved there, we had visited it. Most of the sight-seeing was done at that time. Once you have family in a place, you do not go sight-seeing. You just sit in their house, talk, watch TV, and eat. By the way, that is what family is all about.

Yesterday, I wrote about visiting Niagara on the American side. We visited Niagara on the Canadian side on our 20th wedding anniversary. That was something special we did while driving back from Toronto one time.

Then last year, we booked a cabin at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and spent some time trying to live with nature. I religiously blogged about that trip. Maybe that was the reason I remembered Ontario more than Oregon.

We have crossed the halfway mark of the challenge. I hope you are all enjoying my travel adventures. It has brought back so many memories.
So for A to Z challenge in April

Letter O is Oregon and Ontario.
