Karnataka, Kentucky and a few more.

My younger son’s Upanayanam took place in Mysore, Karnataka, with our Guru’s blessings. It was such a hard ordeal working out the details with our special boy. But all worked out great. We did put him through a lot of strict religious ordeals, but he did not fight or question them. My younger one thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony. He did say that he felt really special on that day, and he also commented that it was all fun. I think that is his nature. As parents, my husband and I felt blessed after this ceremony.

The ceremony with Vedic priests

I did blog about this ceremony. Please check on this link to learn more. https://specialmomsblog.mom/2022/02/18/brahmopadesham/

We stayed in Kalamazoo, Michigan, one summer weekend. This is where we experienced our first trampoline park.

Trampoline park!

The town of Newport borders Ohio. So when we were in Columbus for a racing event, we spent the evening in Kentucky. I think my younger son enjoyed being inside the ball more than he did at the trampoline park.

I do not remember what this was called!

By the way, I did not jump inside the trampoline park in Kalamazoo or roll inside the ball in Kentucky. But I was forced to walk on a bridge that was half-broken in Kinzua State Park.  I did it with my eyes closed.

I did not like looking down!
Trying to engage and making it fun

Kennywood is our local amusement park. I rode a roller coaster there last summer with my kids. I promise you, I am never going to do that again.

We thought this was a once in a lifetime event 😂🤷‍♀️

My kids are nearly eight years apart. I have a special one whose lifestyle is completely different from the rest of us. The fun activities we do as a family have to be planned in detail. One person or another does get left out during the activity, and I would call it a compromise.

For A to Z challenge this April

  2. Some beautiful photos there, and a beautiful glimpse of life, too. Thanks for that.

I supported an orphan child at the SOS Children’s village in Bangalore, Karnataka, until she came of age and started her education, but aside from a few postcards I honestly don’t know much about this fascinating part of India. … I would like to go see it one day!

I know all about dividing responsibilities, and fun, when it comes to taking out my child. After a while you get used to it as a parent, but a part of you always wishes that things could be different, I guess.

    Thanks for a great blog.
