Bloganuary Challenge Day 24, An attraction close to home.

Bloganuary writing prompt
Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.

Yesterday’s prompt was list five things you do for fun and I did answer one was planning trips for my family .

So when I saw today’s prompt I really got excited. We take our special boy out into the community a lot. He has what is called an ACCESS Pass most of the museums and parks are discounted or free. We also take him for walks on lot of trails and I can say with confidence that we roamed around a lot in our city.

But at the end of the day we are all humans. We would not have gone everywhere right? So I spent yesterday night searching for a place that we missed. I found out that we do not have a National Park in Pennsylvania but there are lot of places serviced by National Parks. So here is where we may go on a road trip this spring or summer. If the weather is warmer, maybe even before winter ends. https://nps.gov/alpo/index.htm

The Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, got my attention. I love it. There is history to be learnt and lot of nature.

The Titanic Artifact Exhibition is now at Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh and that is something we need to visit. Usually museum visits happen for us February and I am really waiting to see this exhibit. https://carnegiesciencecenter.org/exhibits/the-titanic/?utm_source=website&utm_medium=feature&utm_campaign=homepage-main-feature&utm_term=the-titanic

We were watching New Hampshire Primary yesterday and me and my husband were really excited. Oh, nothing political. But as they pinpointed cities and towns, we remembered many weekends we would put our special boy in the back of our Honda Civic and drive to various towns, that was when we lived in Boston. It was really hard catching him inside the house and I think that was an easy way out, locking him inside the car. New Hampshire also did not have state tax and we found outlet malls and other places to buy stuff. Gas was cheap then and it really saved a dollar or two.

We moved to Pittsburgh, we had two kids by then and things really became busy with both until pandemic. As I discussed this prompt with my husband, we did not do that many road trips for a good many years. The road trips really took off again three years back when things started slowly opening up during the pandemic.

Anyway, if I do visit these two places, I would give credit to Bloganuary.

Now to my own challenge with Dosa Making or my Indian Pancake making. It was stuffed dosa day. That meant making the potatoes and stuffing it into the dosa. This task needs so much perfection and my boy and me are not anywhere near the goal. We will be making a lot to master and fine tune this skill.

  1. Yum! I’ve been learning to make paratha, but so far it hasn’t come out right. Have a new method to try next week. 🙂
