Something about a name

Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc.

Ganga comes from the sanskrit root word Gam Dhatu or the verb go. This was something that I learnt new after seeing the prompt.

Ganga is a river who was locked in Lord Shiva’s hair and was bought to Earth by Bhagiratha to give salvation to his ancestors.

River Ganges flows through many of the Northern States and is considered very sacred in Varanasi.

It is the duty of every Hindu to do Shraddam at Varanasi, a ritual for our depated ancestors. Unlike olden days this has become much more simple with travel and accommodation. Yet, the satisfaction of doing it is the same.

Ganga Arti is so famous and it always gives me goosebumps whenever I hear the same.

I have always felt proud of River Ganga. I have just seen Her in Haridwar and Rishikesh when I was young. Yet, I feel I have a very close bonding with Her.

Anyway for my Day 3 Cooking Dosa with my boy, it was regular Sada Dosa and Brinjal Gothsu (கத்திரிக்காய் கொத்சு).

He has practiced making nearly 25 dosas in the past three days and the task of waiting for the dosa to get cooked before turning it is something he is learning. He also had to serve to his Dad before he eats and that is also a huge task. Hey, his Dad wanted an extra one yesterday since he cleaned the snow and I was more than happy since my boy was doing the task. Here are pictures from yesterday!
