What could you do differently?
Language is tricky and this question makes it hard. Anyhow I am going to assume and answer it.
My special boy was diagnosed at a time when a therapy called ABA was being mainstreamed. In fact most of his public school teachers were being trained or were doing certifications and were getting permission from us to work with him. We gladly gave them permission since any kind of therapy or work was good for him! He had a box with raisins, slinky and sometimes even a small bottle of coke as a reward as they taught and collected data😊!
But I started to learn more things on my own and my teaching him had nothing to do with collecting data!
In fact he was doing good! As time passed, I learnt I could teach my son and he was learning but the approach I was teaching was not mainstreamed, it was different but something that was a perfect fit for him. In fact I learnt so many things and the way I did it could be applicable to him only. I did not do any research or collect or submit data to anyone. I did not check ratings nor my work rated. It was raw but it was working! Ok that was one thing I could do differently!
But I would say I am still continuing my work! In fact we have rhythm set in and we made a couple of videos of us doing some singing yesterday! We submitted one for an Online Marghazhi Mahotsavam Festival, a Carnatic Music Festival. But here is one that I offered to my Guru which he blessed immediately.

My boy is learning without rewards like a regular person. He seems to be interested in learning different things and I think I am also learning so many things but we are doing at our own pace. Is he an autistic savant? No, he is not. It takes a lot of time and effort on his part to get to where he is and I am glad he is doing it. I have to thank his online music teacher who has been so patient. The past year we have been working so many things that can work for him. My boy is verbally very limited so a lot of things needed to be done in a very different way! Kudos to her!

That is all I could and can do differently 😀🙏!
