We are a family who do not drink or eat meat! So what did we do in New Orleans? You don’t need to eat meat or drink to enjoy the rich culture and beauty of the city. The vibrant music on street corners gave us goose bumps and walking through French Quarters was something we will remember forever!

My son’s program activities director wanted us to take him to Cafe de Mundo and then wanted us to share the picture of him eating the powdered doughnuts😀! He was too careful with the powdered sugar and we a coffee drinking family enjoyed the chicory added coffee too!

You all know we walk a lot and Mississippi river trail was one thing that we didn’t miss!

Crossing state borders is always fun and it is even more fun when the gas is so cheap compared to where we live! This at a rest area in Mississippi!

Okat but another sign near it was not fun but a bit scary!

Enroute to Pensacola, Florida, food was at a Nepali restaurant in Mobile Alabama. We just saw the movie Sweet Home Alabama and we needed to take the picture!

We entered Florida, have been to many beaches like cocoa, Key Biscayne, Ft. lauderdale but this one was an unplanned one and it was really exciting. Yes last week in December your foot touches white sand instead of white snow it does make it exciting.

How about an acai fruit bowl after a few minutes in the cold water? For a healthy bowl I would say it tasted great!

It is not always a vacation for me! I decided to do a full meal the last day of the trip! Doing things with minimum availability is challenging and fun 😀! I added extra points for myself! Show off😀!

But it turned out decent and we did save dollars 💵!

You are on vacation and it is pouring so hard outside on the last day and you scramble what do and we ended up in VUE New Orleans! We learnt a lot about New Orleans history .Me and my husband saw a short documentary on how preventive measures are being taken to avoid another Hurricane Katrina situation.

It was pouring and our final activity for the trip was to drive on Lake Pontchartrain! The 23 mile long bridge built over the lake is the longest in the United States! This lake’s levees were the ones that broke and the brackish water lake on the day we drove was rough! I can’t imagine it’s intensity during a hurricane!

I come home and add my souvenir shot glasses (funny we don’t drink😀), we just need to travel to 15 more states to complete the 50 state quest.😊😊

With a special need boy I would have never imagined this kind of travel and a long time back would have thought when Pigs Fly!!!

Yet, it happened! My boy is used to air travel and car trips! Just a note, airline and airport and TSA employees all great with my boy and they knew autism. This trip covered air travel and a road trip! So it was more therapy for him and us!!! So a trip to India? Maybe it can materialize! Changing multiple time zones is not so easy!

Icing on the cake for the trip was the visit to our Guru’s Temple in Baton Rouge on Vaikunta Ekadashi day! A very special day for Lord Vishnu. Every trip we try to visit a Hindu Temple and this was much more close to heart!

We returned back and had a surprise gift waiting at our door! My neighbor had dropped off my gift and it was so sweet!

I have more pictures and things to share but I am going to stop now. In fact, I will take a few days break to catch up on my laundry and rest before New Year! Excited to do Bloganuary again next year and hopefully will have fun doing the same!
