Today I decided to do a Rangoli or Kolam in front of the house. This is again one of my favorite activity growing up. But, this requires every muscle in your body to work and I had given up on it saying it is too cold outside. Anyway, four months a year this is not possible but it can be done every day the rest of the year.
I had a yoga class and it got canceled last minute. Wearing shoes I ventured out and decided it was time to make one beautiful Rangoli or Kolam. The weather was not bad. Why did this make me remember yoga? The entire time, you are doing Rangoli, you are bending yourselves drawing the same. So, if I had the yoga class, I would have just skipped on this task entirely or would have come up with a half baked Kolam. I always use only rice flour, the concept being to feed the ants or the small insects outside. But today I decided to mix some white play sand with it and I ended having a good piece. It may not be so perfect but people dropping in didn’t want to stamp on it and come inside. So they were jumping around it. I think, that in itself made me happy!

I did wear a green saree today and had matching green bangles and tried to look fresh and pretty. Yes, a much better day than yesterday in dressing department too.
My boy is handling things good. Or should I say I am ignoring him? Without planning I had to take him to a house for Golu visit and he did sing a small song. He was expecting big rewards but as I said Navaratri is just sundal or lentils. But he did pick up a pack of cookies in the nearby store. I told my friend it was his first vocal recital outside the home.
I am telling stories, explaining my themes and all of a sudden felt I was in middle school explaining a science project. I think one of my guest did say the same thing. It’s nice being a twelve year old temporarily!
My younger one who is in his dorm, is not folding his laundry and just living out of his laundry basket and I was teasing him last week. Now this week, I am doing the same at home. I have to get back to my laundry otherwise enjoying the festival one day at a time.
