Today I spent time visiting other people’s Golus. I am a doll addict and I can say I enjoyed every single one of them. I came with a lot of goodies that my fridge is stocked for my boy to munch all day tomorrow!
Every day has a color and finally today I had a saree that matches the color of the day. If you ask me is this a tradition? I don’t remember having that tradition when I was growing up. But, it is there now and it is just plain fun.
One thing I really wanted to do this Navaratri was to wear accessories from bangles to earrings to necklaces and matching the same with my sarees. I have collected these over time. But it has been ages since I spent time matching myself to all of them and let me tell you glass bangles bring so much beauty. Did I match anything today? No, I did not. I had no time🤷♀️🤷♀️! Okay, this is absolutely a lie. I can’t blame my boy or my husband or my household work. I had time to sit and browse, watch some TV but picking out matching accessories was not my priority today. I kept hearing my Mom’s voice. “Just five minutes and you can be prepared for the next day”. I did not do so. Just a few minutes before I dressed up, the yellow saree just looked at me and I was so grateful for that! I had not one but two people tell me what color it was today and so yellow it had to be! So in a rush I wore my saree and left the house to what people now call Golu hopping!
Okay around 9.30 pm I wound up my day and started opening my thambulam bags (good bags) and two of the goody bags had bangles/bracelets in them! The accessories were just looking at me. I think it is a sign that I should wear matching accessories tomorrow!🤔

Navaratri is 9 days of not only prayers but dressing up, socializing and eating amazing prasadams (food treats) and enjoying all. As the sun light disappears our mood changes it is a great way to uplift our mood in a positive way. Our ancestors were definitely smart and they had reason for everything!
